Historic Heartlands
St Andrews is the Cradle of Golf, its geographic and cultural centre, the auld grey toon where the game has developed over centuries, where its laws and conventions are made and preserved and where everyone who plays the game wants to visit in their golfing lifetime. Its world famous Old Course is at the heart of our historic game but it is far from being the only player in town.
Scotland's Historic Heartland is a coalition of three of Scotland's finest golfing areas, offering some of the finest golf to be found on the planet. In Perthshire, Angus and Dundee and the ancient Kingdom of Fife there are golfing challenges to stir the soul amid scenic splendour that only Scotland has to offer. The majestic links of Carnoustie is a test of will as much as golfing prowess while Gleneagles is a haven of peace and tranquillity, and on the right day one of the most beautiful places on earth.
At Blairgowrie in the heart of Perthshire are to be found two the great inland courses in the country while along the coastal fringes of Fife magical links like Lundin, Elie and the spectacular Kingsbarns have now been joined by two new and fine layouts at St Andrews Bay.
There are more than 100 courses in the region with the only difficulty for the visitor the problem of where to begin.
