Alva Golf Course is well known locally for being a challenging
course. Picturesque over the majority of holes, but with many
natural hazards in whin, gorse, burns and gulleys, it is as
beautiful as they come. Being limited to nine holes for the length
of its history has not prevented many a young Alva golfer
progressing towards a single figure handicap. This is most probably
due to the course nature, with its small and tough to read greens,
difficult lies and ever present need to be fairly straight from the
tee or pay the price
