Falkirk, known locally as 'Carmuirs', is a parkland course
that is slightly undulating over the back nine. The fourth, fifth
and eighth features ponds while burns run through the 11th, 14th,
15th and 16th. The last six holes are a good test of golf and
scores must be made before arriving on the 13th tee, a long uphill
par three that requires the shot to be played as a fade. The next
two holes have a burn running between them requiring an accurate
tee shot. The 17th is a long and very good par four. The closing
hole offers options - it can be played as a good par five with the
third shot over a burn to the green, or for the long hitters to
have a go for the green in two. Succeed and you are rewarded, fail
and there is a penalty.
