Nestling on the shore of the great river Clyde, Helensburgh is
only 23 miles north west of Glasgow. With excellent train and road
links Helensburgh is an easily accessible place to get to.
Helensburgh golf club is situated above the town with fine views
over the Clyde estuary to the west and Loch Lomond to the east. The
18 hole 6104 yds par 69 course offers a stern golfing challenge.
Helensburgh golf club was founded in August 1893 with an original 9
hole lay out, which was approved by Old Tom Morris for the fee of
£1 plus expenses for the day. By 1905 the course had been extended
to 18 holes. James Braid visited Helensburgh golf club in the
1920`s setting out several bunkers, which are still catching out
the golfer of today. Visitors are welcome, subject to availability,
except on Saturdays. Green fees are indicated in the green fees
section of the Club's Website, which contains a booking form. For
golf parties, advance booking via the office is requested, but
small groups and individuals may book directly with the clubs golf
professional. Catering is available to suit all tastes and day
packages can be provided. "Testing scenic moorland course, many
natural hazards and undulating fairways that will test your golf
skills. The course offers a variety of golf and is well maintained.
