The course is considered a challenge to all abilities with a
standard scratch of 70 from the yellow tees, 73 from the white/
championship tees and 75 from the ladies red tees. Set in stunning
parkland on the outskirts of Dundee, it is a golfing experience
everyone should try. In 1999 Downfield Golf Club hosted the Open
Final Qualifying for the first time in its history and proved a
great venue for the worlds top players. Indeed the eventual winner
of the 1999 Carnoustie Open Championship, Paul Lawrie came through
the final qualifying at Downfield. In 1972 the first ever Scottish
Open was held here and Peter Alliss filmed one of his many TV
specials from Downfield in the late 70's.
