Situated on the shores of the Atlantic,
Carraig is a purpose built modern bungalow, fully and tastefully
refurbished Autumn 2004. Access from the back garden leads directly
onto Machrihanish Bay with spectacular sunsets and a wealth of
different seabirds literally on the doorstep. The first tee of the
championship golf links course, Machrihanish, is approximately 150
yards walk away.
Within the village there is also a
pub/restaurant. There are many rewarding walks, including several
beach walks directly from the house. One of which is an
uninterrupted 4 mile walk to the West Port, another to the
Gauldrens, a dramatic mixture of golden sands and large rocks.
The nearby town of Campbeltown offers many
facilities including various sailing trips, tourist information,
two supermarkets, shopping, hotels, restaurants etc. Activities
within the area include golf, fishing, sea angling and pony
trekking. Day trips can be taken to Gigha and Arran via the Calmac
Ferry service. Open to the public on Gigha (God's Island) are the
well-known Achamore Gardens which support a large number of
delicate, tropical plants due to the influence of the Gulf Stream.
More locally the island of Davaar, famous for it's cave painting of
Christ, at the mouth of Campbeltown loch can be visited on foot at
low tide. Campbeltown's “mountain”, Benghuillean can be climbed via
various well-marked routes to suit differing abilities.
The house comprises a porch, hall, large
lounge with patio doors onto the garden, TV/Video/DVD/Music System
with MP3/radio, large kitchen diner with floor to ceiling picture
window and door approximately ten feet from the shore, electric
oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine.
Telephone for incoming and emergency calls only. Four bedrooms
comprising two doubles with fitted wardrobes, one twin with fitted
wardrobes and TV/DVD player, one large single, travel cot and
highchair provided. Bed linen and towels provided. Main bathroom
with basin, toilet, bath with shower over. Shower room with basin,
toilet and large shower.
Weeks are normally Saturday to Saturday. Short
breaks can be arranged out of season.
