Braveheart Golf

Duration: 2 days

If you like history with your golf, then Stirling is the place for you! Set below the famous castle's parapets with magnificent views of the Ochil Hills and Ben Lomond to the west, Stirling Golf Club is an excellent 18-hole course.

Or if time is short, why not try one of the city's two 9 hole courses. Built beneath the inspiring edifice of the National Wallace Monument, Airthrey Golf Course is approx 1168 yards, par 27. Brucefields Family Golf Centre is an interesting and challenging 9 hole course, complete with driving range and practice facilities.

Within half an hour's drive of Stirling, Dollar Golf Club is a challenging hillside course, designed by Ben Sayers in 1907, and without bunkers! The 2nd hole is a memorable blind chip up a steep bank - typical of old courses. Close to Dollar, the Muckhart Golf Club with undulating heathland in the foothills of the Ochil Hills, is a fair test of golf.

Still within a half hours drive of Stirling, the Falkirk area offers a variety of venues. One of the best is undoubtedly Glenbervie, scene of several amateur championships, very much a fine parkland tract, secluded, with lots of trees

Grangemouth Golf Club on Polmont Hill has tremendous views over the Forth and has a longer 18 hole layout.
