Heart of Angus
Duration: 4 days
30 minutes north of Dundee and Perth,
there are 5 golf courses just waiting for you to come and test your
skill. Again, all ideally placed for you to remain in one base for
the duration and not travel more than 30 minutes between each golf
course.
Start your golfing experience with a visit to
Forfar Golf Club. The ground that supports Forfar
Golf Club was used in the last century to dry long dreels of flax
that have left links like bumps. Established in 1871, it is a
parkland course with wooded, undulating fairways and fine views of
the surrounding hills.
From Forfar, travel north west on the A926 to the
small village of Kirriemuir, birthplace of J M Barrie, author of
Peter Pan. Kirriemuir Golf Course is a heathland
course with beautiful views of the Angus Glens. Designed by James
Braid. The 17th is among the best Par 3 holes in the country.
Continue along the A926 to Alyth
where you are in striking range of three excellent golf
courses.
STRONG>Glenisla is a relative newcomer to the
home of golf. Glenisla is set amidst 180 acres of beautiful,
undulating parkland in Perthshire and has been described as
"presenting one of the best tests in the area." This course is a
quality golfing venue which features over 40 bunkers and 5 water
hazards, providing a superb challenge to golfers of all
abilities.
Strathmore Golf Courses -
Rannerloch & Leitfie are also relative newcomers to the
Scottish scene. Rannerloch is an 18 hole course that offers a great
test of golf whilst the Leitfie course (9 holes) is ideal as a
warm-up or for those needing to put in a bit more practice before
the final round.
Finish your stay on the beautiful James Braid
designed Alyth Golf Course. With its new
clubhouse, this well-established golf course is quite tight with a
premium on accuracy rather than length. 9, 10 & 11 are long par
4's and a par 5 with tight tee shots. It's a great combination of
heathland and parkland.
