The James Braid Highland
Trail
Duration: 4 days
Some of James Braid’s finest work is
celebrated in this outpost in the far north of Scotland where the
air is as clear as the Highland burn. This is the land where Braid
weaved his magic amid classic seaside links and in mysterious
Highland glens.
What delights await
along this trail that celebrates some of James Braid's finest
achievements. At Brora he found a magnificent
stretch of links touching the Dornoch Firth where to this day sheep
and cattle still roam the fairways and a single strand of
electrified wire keeps them off the slickest of greens.
At
Golspie he merged links, heathland and parkland to
the greatest effect and also produced a delightful layout at
Fortrose & Rosemarkie.
Nairn, with perhaps the best greens in
Christendom, remains one of the greatest links courses of them all,
while the spectacular scenery of Boat of Garten is
close to being a Highland golfing heaven.
