The James Braid West Coast
Trail
Duration: 3 days
Spectacular Scenery and Romantic
Seascapes.
The west coast of Scotland is a haven of
romantic seascapes and spectacular scenery. James Braid worked his
magic through these poetic settings to create a wonderful
collection of fines courses of great variety and challenge. It was
here at Stranraer that he completed his final course.
Scotland's west coast is famous for its
spectacular scenery and romantic seascapes. On this West Coast
Trail the talents of James Braid have harnessed both in full
measure. The views from Routenburn and
West Kilbride across the Firth of Clyde are
breathtaking. At Stranraer visitors can play the last course the
master architect designed in his long and distinguished career,
while at Ayr Belleisle there is to be found one of
the finest municipal golf courses in existence.
At Irvine visitors have a chance
to relive the famous match between James Braid and Frenchman,
Arnaud Massy, against J.H. Taylor and Abe Mitchell, a match that
was christened "The Auld Enemy" against "The Auld
Alliance".
