The original nine holes were set out in 1888 with extensions made in 1905. Improvements were made years later on the advice of James Braid and the course still retains some of his influence. The views are superb with Ben Lomond, Ben Ledi and Ben Venne located to the north, the valley of the Clyde to the west and the hills of Arran in the distance.
The course is fairly flat, though there are some tricky tree-lined holes to contend with, namely the fifth where you must overcome a loch.
