Course Details
Overlooking its famous salmon river - on which His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is a regular angular - the nine hole Helmsdale course will give you a quaint change from the demands of seaside links.
Facing south on the hillside of Helmsdale Strath, the nine holes wind their way through bracken, gorse and broom and are a picture in the springtime and early summer.
The shortness of the course at just 1860 yards adds to its enjoyment and accuracy, not length, is the key to laying many of the varied holes. A gentle touch is definitely required at the second hole. 87 yards to the pin and just 5 yards further, out of bounds.
The ninth tee is the most prominent point on the course providing a panoramic view out to sea in the east and to the west the gold diggings of Kildonan.
The course is excellent for all people of all ages with walks nearby which give panoramic views of the sea. Established 1895
