Nairn & Inverness

Duration: 3 days

Itinerary - Highlands & Islands

The links to Inverness are getting better all the time with direct flights from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Belfast and Dublin, and it is an ideal base from which to explore the golfing gems of the Highlands.

Follow the A96 along to Nairn, a very pretty Highland town and home to two very good golf courses.

Nairn Golf Course is a championship links golf course that recently was the scene of the Walker Cup triumph in 1999 and boasts the finest greens in Scotland. It is a traditional Scottish links course and is a great test of golf. For less able golfers, there is also a small 9 hole course - the Newton which is an ideal introduction to links golf.

Just a wee bit further along the coast is Nairn Dunbar, a seaside course with gorse and whin lined fairways. It is a highly rated course and has some spectacular holes. Silver birch, winding waterways, gorse and whin bushes, willows and sallows, dastardly ditches, the Minister's Loch and, of course, sand dunes, all add to the challenge and fun. The clubhouse is a great place to relax afterwards too.

From Nairn, it is a short drive to Inverness back along the A96. Inverness Golf Course is situated on the outskirts of Inverness and is a beautiful parkland course and an ideal way in which to finish your short Highland sojourn.
